Ah, yeah, gotcha. That's what I thought you meant, but wasn't sure if I was missing some nuances.
But yeah, that's why I ask; if it's not intentional,
how does it happen to
such a high and uncanny degree with The Beatles?
How come almost everything they ever did is charged with PID motifs?
If it's the universe... how does that work, and why is it so concentrated on them?
Or maybe I'm not asking the right questions.
You are asking good ones, though. I've never had to explain my position before, anywhere, ever. This is a welcome task. (As are critiques, btw).
I love this quote
Motivation.
From researching death/rebirth themes in the esoteric world and finding an astonishing amount of parallels in The Beatles' work, in tandem with all the seemingly PID stuff in their pre-67 work, it seems that it served more than one purpose.
Foremost, it seems to be a Hermetic ritual, that became a continuing meme in their work. And like I said, at first it was overt, but innocuous. Then it became symbolic and subtextual.
Why? I wish I had a better handle on that at this point. It seems to me McCartney & Lennon both resonate as Christ/Osiris figures. This being the end of the Aeon of Osiris and the onset of the Aeon of Horus seems to play directly into that.
Then you've got Lennon's infamous Christianity comments, coming out on the heels of Time's "Is God dead?" issue, which was published on April 8th, the anniversary of Crowley being dictated the Book of the Law, which I know you're familiar with.
So, with the symbolic death of McCartney they're playing out a ritual. What they get
out of that I'm not sure.
Then there's the possibility of 2 (or more) Pauls. Is PID meant to explain that away? That used to be my guess. Seems there's more going on there, though. But like everything they did, there are multiple, intertwined layers.
There does seem to be the 'good' Paul and the 'bad' Paul. Perhaps it's meant to convey a message of duality, or id vs. ego, or multiple universes, etc.
Honestly, lately I've been leaning more towards there being one Paul, but that he was alternating various prosthetics around, for whatever reason.
There's certainly not enough of a difference for there to be an imposter, Which I suppose is how they simultaneously pull of PIA and PID
Which is why I would also chalk a lot up to Discordian mindfuckery; but it's certainly not entirely just that.
